Silver Ferns rest vice-captain for test against Jamaica
The Silver Ferns have made one change from the team which made a confident start to the Taini Jamison Trophy with vice-captain Maria Folau to miss the next Test.
Folau will sit out tonight’s game against the Jamaica Sunshine Girls at the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland as she continues her comeback from a knee complaint.
The Silver Ferns’ medical team has been pleased with the progress the goal attack has made as she follows a specific recovery plan to ensure she is at full fitness for next month’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Defender Temalisi Fakahokotau makes a return to the team after sitting out the series opener against the Malawi Queens having rolled her ankle at training.
The Silver Ferns were in dominant form in their opening match against Malawi, winning 75-42 and coach Janine Southby was pleased to get 11 of her 12-strong team on court, including debutante Michaela Sokolich-Beatson at goal defence.
Jamaica also netted a first-up win in their opening Taini Jamison Trophy match with a decisive 83-38 victory over the Fiji Pearls. Tonight’s other game in the four-day series will see Malawi take on Fiji.
