Bredin To Umpire Crucial Match in Glasgow

New Zealand’s Jono Bredin has been selected to officiate Saturday night’s second Netball semi-final between Australia and Jamaica at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Bredin is no stranger to umpiring at this level, having officiated at the last Commonwealth Games four years ago in Delhi, and tonight’s appointment is testament to the years of hard work and preparation put in by Bredin.

Umpires are not permitted to be assigned matches which include their own countries, so to be given the nod to umpire the second semi-final between two teams who are among the best in the world is prestigious at such a pinnacle event.

Bredin will be umpiring with England's Ian Fuller.

The New Zealand Netball team face England in the first semi-final from 8.50pm with the Australia v Jamaica match following straight after. The losers of the two semi-finals will square off in the bronze medal match Sunday night, while the winners will play for the gold medal late Sunday evening from 11.20pm (NZT).
