Langman to continue career in Australia in 2018

Laura Langman has advised Netball New Zealand she will play in the Australian domestic competition in 2018, hence ruling herself ineligible for the Silver Ferns in 2018.

The decision means she will remain ineligible for Silver Ferns selection for the 2018 international season, including the Commonwealth Games.

Netball New Zealand head of high performance Keir Hansen says while they are very disappointed, he respects the choice she has made.

“I understand this has been an incredibly hard decision for Laura to make, and one that she hasn’t made lightly,” Hansen said.

“Netball New Zealand’s very strong desire was for Laura to be available to play for the Silver Ferns in the Commonwealth Games and the Netball World Cup.

“We are obviously highly disappointed Laura has decided not to sign for a New Zealand Club team for the 2018 season as that would have made her eligible for selection for the Silver Ferns in 2018.”

Netball New Zealand wishes Laura every success for the 2018 season.

The Silver Ferns squad and team for the upcoming Netball Quad Series and Taini Jamison Trophy will be announced in early August.
