Rasmussen back where it all began

Back in time: Grace Rasmussen debuted for the Silver Ferns at goal attack against Samoa in 2010
When Grace Rasmussen stands arm-in-arm with her Silver Ferns teammates at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua, on Thursday night, it will bring back memories of her debut in the same venue 5 years earlier.

August 7, 2010 (her debut) saw the Silver Ferns go head-to-head with Samoa. Rasmussen took the court in the third quarter and played out the match at goal attack – netting 17 goals from 18 attempts at 94 per cent.

“To play against Samoa in my first ever Test Match in Porirua in front of my family was amazing and I can’t wait to get back there again to play against Fiji,” Rasmussen said.

Supporting her every step of the way on her road to NWC2015 has been a large and vocal network of family and friends.

She says her family were “super stoked’ when she made the team for Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 and the upcoming New World Netball Series for the Taini Jamison Trophy.

“Mum cried hysterically over the phone, Dad was chuffed and they actually came out to see me as they couldn’t wait a few days until camp was over, so that was nice,” she recalls.

“I told my partner as well and he was super happy for me too.”
