Silver Ferns to face Wales in historic series

The Silver Ferns will face Wales in an historic two-Test Series on February 7 and 8 to wrap up their 2017 Northern Hemisphere tour.

The world number 8 team, hasn’t hosted the Silver Ferns on home soil since 1997 – a one-off Test - when Yvonne Willering coached the Kiwis to victory.

The last time the two sides met was in Pool Play at the 2011 Netball World Cup in Singapore.

Silver Ferns coach Janine Southby says they are excited to add the two Tests against Wales to their calendar.

“We’re pleased to be able to finish our tour with two Tests against Wales. It’s a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves against different opposition in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games in 2018,” Southby said.

“Welsh fans are parochial no matter the sport they are supporting, so it’s going to be a great experience for us all.”

Both matches will be held at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff, with tickets on sale to the general public from December 21.

The matches will come at the conclusion of the Netball Quad Series to be hosted in South Africa and England.
