Silver Ferns unveil NWC2015 dresses

For the first time in history, the Silver Ferns may don a grey dress, due to Netball World Cup requirements that an alternative ‘strip’ be produced for the tournament which starts next Friday.

The unveiling of both Silver Ferns dresses for the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 (NWC2015) comes as the team prepares to fly to Sydney on Monday.

In producing the prestigious on-court dress for the Silver Ferns, design teams at BLK used exclusive Exotek fabric throughout the main body which is designed and developed exclusively to enhance athlete performance and maximise player comfort due to its four-way stretch properties.

Netball New Zealand Head of High Performance, Steve Lancaster said the team will only wear the grey dress if advised by NWC2015 organisers.

"As they do in the ANZ Championship, the players are used to wearing an alternate strip,” Lancaster said.

“The black dress is steeped in history and the team is excited about wearing the new BLK dress at the World Cup.”

Exotek fabric is the strongest, lightest, softest and most breathable fabric ever utilised by BLK and has been tested in the toughest conditions.

Strategically engineered evaporex mesh has been also incorporated within the dress as a secondary fabric and strategically positioned at the upper back and underarms to assist in moisture management and breathability for the players.

The dress has been finished with chamois cloth side panelling to assist players in removing sweat from their hands, providing a dry grip on the ball at all times.  The player’s dress has been specifically cut and tailored to each athlete’s body and engineered to provide maximum on court mobility.

All seams and panels have been finished with reinforced cover stitch seams for added strength.

The Silver Ferns will open their NWC2015 campaign against Barbados on Friday 7 August, 2015.
