Out of the great southern Netball nursery of Verdon College in Invercargill, shooter Aliyah Dunn was lured to the Pulse for her first year at the elite level with instant success throughout the 2018 ANZ Premiership.
A former NZ Secondary Schools player and member of the 2017 NZU21 World Youth Cup-winning team, the 18-year-old revelled in her debut season.
Coming from a basketball background, Dunn plays with a seemingly nonchalant and easy going manner but quickly showed her telling ability to score lots of goals with astute positioning, sure hands and pin-point accuracy. She is also a dab hand at rebounding.
Dunn finished a whirlwind 2018 as the second most accurate shooter with a 90.8 percent accuracy rate to leave an impressive imprint. Dunn’s full potential is still to be realised, her height, presence under the hoop and for her age, wonderful calmness in the heat of the moment, are perfect attributes as she continues to grow her game.
