Selected in her first Silver Ferns squad in 2017, talented 1.92m defender Kelly Jury made the most of her opportunity after bouncing back from an early setback.
Days after signing her first top-level contract with Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, Jury ruptured an Achilles tendon which put her out of action for the 2015 season. Still very much in the infancy of her career, she rebounded admirably in 2016, impressing enough with her strength of character and hard work behind the scenes to gain a spot in the 2017 Silver Ferns squad.
In a stellar year, the towering defender gained her first Silver Ferns cap early in 2017 ahead of playing an instrumental role in the New Zealand U21 team’s unbeaten run to the World Youth Cup title.
One of New Zealand netball’s rising young talents, Jury made giant strides in 2017 in adding to her growing status and long-term future at the elite level.
As one of the tallest defenders in the New Zealand game, Jury’s height is an obvious asset but there’s a strong drive from within to be better in all facets.
Hailing from a small Taranaki farming community, Jury was also a member of the FAST5 Ferns team who won the 2016 Fast5 Netball World Series.
