Jessica Tuki

2006

GS
GA
WA
Long-limbed attacker Jess Tuki was a sensational call-up to the Silver Ferns team on the eve of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games when Jodi Brown was ruled out with injury.

Having played for the NZ U21 and NZA teams, Tuki had always shown huge potential with her athletic ability, great elevation and long reach.

Able to play both shooting positions, Tuki’s quick feet, sure hands and height made her an easily accessible target but she struggled with accuracy under the hoop and this counted against her featuring more regularly.

The rangy Tuki’s strong skill base made her a versatile player and at various times through her career she played most positions on the court. Her ability to cover wing attack added depth and variety to the forward line where her height made her a forceful presence.
