Katarina Cooper profile

Katarina Cooper

2013

A standout at national age-group level and one of the youngest ever to play for the NZ U21 team when she was just 14, Katarina Cooper was earmarked for a bright future at the elite level.

However, motherhood intervened and became the top priority for Cooper until she took up an ANZ Championship contract with the Central Pulse late in her career.

From Otaki, north of Wellington, the midcourter had a year to savour in 2013.

A dynamic player, the strongly-built Cooper was the bolter in the Silver Ferns squad for 2013-14 while also getting a chance in the FAST5 Ferns team in the shorter version of the game.

With an outstanding skill set, the naturally talented and versatile Cooper could play all three midcourt positions but was chosen at centre for her one and only Test, against Malawi in 2013.
