Margaret Filippini profile

Margaret Filippini

1967

GS
GA
Selected for the 1967 Silver Ferns team, Southland’s Margaret Filippini was essentially New Zealand’s third shooter for the Netball World Cup team that competed in Perth.

Able to play both shooting roles, Filippini did get game time during the tournament but struggled to crack the top line-up where she was up against the well-performed shooting combination of Mirth Soloman and Joan Harnett (Player of the Tournament).

Standing at 1.70m (5ft5in), Filippini was not particularly tall for a shooter but was extremely reliable and capable under the hoop. She was 21 years old when making her international debut in Perth.
